Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses which may cause illness in animals or humans. In humans, several coronaviruses are known to cause respiratory infections ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). The most recently discovered coronavirus causes coronavirus disease COVID-19.
Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Centre offers an interactive web-based map to track cases of the corona virus around the world. The site promises to provide you with the most up-to-date information on the COVID-19. The Global Case Tracker is updated frequently and missing information updated as soon as possible. On the 10th of March 2020, WebJunction posted an article noting the global impact COVID-19 (Coronavirus) was having on the local communities. The virus does not discriminate and affects people of all nationalities. Library Staff in all types of information centres / libraries, geographic locations, and sizes are learning the facts about this public health crisis and working hard to provide patrons with correct information.
